Storm Peak Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (SPHA) is a Nonprofit Corporation organized to promote, coordinate and facilitate safe and non-commercial motor-less foot launched flight. It is the intent of SPHA to maintain safe mountain flying sites for all qualified pilots and to promote the sport of free flight in the Yampa Valley.

Paragliding and Hang Gliding at Steamboat Springs, CO

If you visit the Steamboat Springs Area, you may have notice the free flight activity over the ski mountain and valley. Steamboat is very beautiful and exciting place to fly Hang Gliders and Paragliders with extended thermal flights to altitude very common. Evening flights with calmer soarable conditions are also common with the added benefit of flying adjacent to popular resort town.

Pilots who visit will find that their friends and families are able to enjoy the Yampa Valley’s sites and activities while they fly from our beautiful Storm Peak launch. Due to the nature of our flying site, we have developed skill and membership requirements to promote safety and the preservation of our flight privileges.
